Tech neck lines are the horizontal creases that form across the front of the neck, often after years of looking down at a phone, laptop or tablet. Neck skin is thinner and more mobile than facial skin, with fewer oil glands and less structural support, so creases set in earlier and hold longer. What causes tech neck lines

Tech neck lines come from repeated movement combined with structural change. Every time the head tilts forward, the skin across the front of the neck folds. Repeated thousands of times a week, that fold becomes a habitual crease rather than a temporary one.

Underneath, the dermis is changing too. Collagen density declines steadily with age and the fibres that give skin its recoil become thinner and more disorganised, as documented in morphometric studies of age-related dermal collagen change. The neck is also the area most people forget with sun protection, so UV exposure adds elastin damage on top.

It is worth separating two problems that look similar. Fine horizontal creases are largely a surface and collagen quality issue. Loose, crepey skin that sits in folds is laxity, and it responds to a different approach.

Which treatments may help tech neck lines

Who it suits and who it does not

These treatments suit clients whose main concern is skin quality and laxity. They are not the answer where the concern is fat volume or deeper structural change, and Plasma Fibroblast is not suitable for submental fat when the issue is fat rather than skin looseness.

Every treatment begins with a thorough consultation. Very dark skin tones require careful assessment before plasma work because of pigmentation risk. We do not treat active skin conditions in the treatment area, and we will not treat suspicious, changing or irregular pigmented lesions unless a dermatologist or skin doctor has assessed them first.

What to expect from treatment

For Plasma Fibroblast, topical numbing is applied around 40 minutes before your appointment, and you will get an SMS reminder about an hour beforehand. Small carbon dots form across the treated area during treatment and lift naturally over roughly days three to seven. Swelling is common in the first one to three days, and pink new skin may show underneath. Plan for seven to ten days of social downtime as a minimum. The neck heals more slowly than the face, so do not book it tight against an event.

Skin Needling is much lighter, with redness and warmth for around 24 to 48 hours and mild flaking after. Sun protection on the neck is non-negotiable for both while the skin regenerates.

Results and realistic timelines

Plasma results build gradually. Suitable clients may notice early tightening within a few weeks, but the more meaningful change usually appears from weeks six to twelve as new collagen matures. Results may hold for two to four years depending on the client, area, lifestyle and ageing process. Needling is usually a series of three to six sessions four to six weeks apart, with improvement building across the series.
