Pigmentation & Uneven Tone
Even, brighten and refine
Pigmentation can show up as sun spots, freckles, uneven tone, melasma, post-inflammatory marks or diffuse mottling. It often develops slowly and deepens over time, especially in sun-exposed skin or hormonally active stages of life.
At North Skin, we specialise in advanced plasma-based pigmentation correction, using technology that works on both the surface and deeper layers. Plasma reduces inflammation, oxygenates the skin and helps the pigment safely lift while strengthening the skin barrier.
Why pigmentation develops
Pigmentation forms when melanocytes produce excess melanin. This can be triggered by UV exposure, hormones, heat, inflammation, pregnancy, medication and post-acne trauma.
The challenge is not the pigment itself, but the pattern behind it. Inflammation, cell turnover and barrier health all influence how persistent the discolouration becomes.
Our approach improves the skin’s function first, so pigment can be lifted safely and evenly.
Our most effective plasma treatments
Plasma Pen Spot Removal
(Selective Lesion Treatment)Â For isolated dark spots like solar lentigines, age spots or stubborn sun freckles, the Plasma Pen can precisely lift and remove pigment from the surface. Only suitable for clearly defined, non-melasma pigmentation.
Warm Argon Plasma (FAP)
A powerful treatment for uneven tone, sun damage and surface pigmentation. Warm Plasma increases cell turnover, stimulates regeneration and helps lift stubborn epidermal pigment. It also strengthens the dermal structure, improving long-term clarity.
Cold Ozone Plasma (CoolJet)
Cold Plasma delivers oxygen-rich plasma energy that calms inflammation, supports barrier repair and disrupts the conditions that allow pigmentation to persist. It is especially effective for melasma-prone skin or skin that flushes, overheats or reacts easily.
Hyper PlasmaÂ
A regenerative plasma modality that increases epidermal permeability for better pigment correction and infusion of brightening serums. Ideal for dullness, uneven tone, post-inflammatory marks or when the skin needs support before stronger resurfacing..
Recommended Treatment Plan
- Surface pigment from sun exposure
Warm Plasma Resurfacing
3 sessions, 3–4 weeks apart - Melasma or hormonally driven pigmentation
Cold Plasma and Hyper Plasma
Weekly for 4–6 weeks
Introduce Warm Plasma only once the inflammation is controlled - Post-inflammatory pigmentation (from acne or irritation)
Cold Plasma and Hyper Plasma
Optional Warm Plasma for texture and brightness - Targeted dark spots or age spots
Plasma Pen Spot Removal
Followed by Cold Plasma or Hyper for healing and pigment control - Maintenance
Once every 1–3 months depending on lifestyle, sun exposure and skin behaviour
Results and recovery
Warm Plasma delivers visible brightness and freshness within days. Cold Plasma and Hyper Plasma offer a more gradual brightening effect while improving the skin’s resilience and barrier function.
Plasma Pen Spot Removal involves light crusting for 5–10 days but produces a clean lifting of pigment.
Pigmentation responds best with consistency and a layered approach, especially when hormones or inflammation are involved.
